The Wrath of the Lich King Trial FAQ

Who is eligible to try the Wrath of the Lich King 10-day free trial edition?

Anyone who has a current subscription or has ever had a subscription to World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade can play the Wrath of the Lich King trial. There is a limit of one free trial per account. World of Warcraft "classic" trial accounts and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade trial accounts are not eligible for the Wrath of the Lich King 10-day free trial.

How does the 10-day time limit work?

The 10-day trial period starts immediately once you activate the free trial in Account Management, and expires after 10 calendar days, whether you play it or not. Since you can only activate this 10-day trial once, please make sure you do so when you are ready to get the most use out of it!

How do I upgrade to the full version of Wrath of the Lich King?

If you have a credit card, you can upgrade the account directly online for $39.99 USD at any time. You can also purchase a boxed copy from the online Blizzard Store or most major retailers of entertainment software.

What content do I have access to during the 10-day free trial?

The trial account will have access to all of the expansion content, including creation of the new death knight Hero class and access to the new continent of Northrend. Please note that in order to create a death knight, you must already have a level 55 or higher character on the realm on which you wish to create the death knight. Northrend is recommended for characters who have reached level 68 or higher. While you can complete expansion quests and even pick up some powerful new items, any characters you play during the trial can only advance up to one experience point below level 71.

What happens to my characters and items after the 10 free days expire?

Any new death knight characters you've created (you must already have a level 55 or higher character on the realm to create a death knight) will be saved and will be inaccessible until you upgrade to the full version of Wrath of the Lich King. Once you've upgraded, they will be unlocked just as you left them and ready for further adventures. All items and gold you gain during the trial period are yours to keep. Any characters that find themselves still in Northrend or any other expansion zone at the trial expiration will be transported to their bind point in Azeroth. If the character's bind point was set in Northrend, he or she will be transported to one of the default graveyards or home cities.

Do characters I create during my 10-day free trial count against the character limit?

Yes. These characters will count toward your maximum limit of 10 characters per realm and 50 characters per account. If you reach your limit, however, you can delete these characters at any time -- even after the trial period has expired.

Can I keep any pets I acquire in the expansion zones?

Yes!
