Exchange of World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services for non-World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services, and Vice-Versa (Buying/Selling Gold, Items, Characters, and/or Accounts)
Anyone offering World of Warcraft content for sale is attempting to steal from and deceive you, as no one is EVER allowed to sell any aspect of the World of Warcraft MMORPG except Blizzard and its licensees. Blizzard will not recognize the transaction resulting from the seller's prohibited behavior! Attempting to circumvent this rule by selling "the time put into the character" DOES NOT make such a sale legitimate, as the transaction still results in the transfer of World of Warcraft virtual property (which is acknowledged by every player as solely belonging to Blizzard Entertainment and/or its licensors) and in the seller receiving money.
CONSEQUENCES:
Any evidence uncovered by Support investigations that the account has been involved in the exploitation of the World of Warcraft Economy by purchasing currency, items, characters and/or accounts may result in:
-
Removal of any World of Warcraft content that was purchased from anyone other than Blizzard Entertainment. Note that the sale of existing accounts, currency, items, and characters, or any aspect thereof, is not presently offered by Blizzard or its licensees, nor is the availability of such services foreseen.
-
Immediate Account Closure of any account found to have been transferred from the registered user to anyone else. Blizzard Entertainment neither recognizes nor permits the transfer of accounts.
Any evidence uncovered by Support investigations that the account has been involved in the exploitation of the World of Warcraft Economy by selling currency, items, characters, and/or accounts may result in immediate account closure.
EXAMPLES:
Here are a few examples of inappropriate transactions involving World of Warcraft content. In all examples, George is the registered account user, and Cynthia is his 16-year-old daughter whom he has authorized to use the account (this list is by no means all-inclusive).
- George wants to play at the same time as Cynthia, so he starts surfing auction websites for an account with a nice, shiny level-70 character.
- George wants to buy his epic mount and riding skill but doesn't have the gold, so he pulls up a website that sells gold and lines his character's pockets.
- Cynthia wants to achieve the top PvP rank quickly, so she pays an honor-farming service to fight in the battlegrounds while she's at school.
- Cynthia wins some really great bind-on-equip items that none of her characters need, so she decides to sell them on an auction site.
- Cynthia has moved on to a new game, so George decides to get rid of the account and earn some extra cash.
Stacking Account Penalties/Final Warnings
Blizzard Entertainment takes the violation of its Terms of Use and game policies very seriously. Please heed all warnings, suspensions, and especially final warnings; we are always grieved when an account must be permanently removed from the World of Warcraft community. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the game while at the same time maintaining a friendly, respectful, honorable, and fun play environment!
- Any evidence of an account violating any portion of the Terms of Use and/or our game policies may result in immediate account closure. However, most violations by themselves will not result in such a fate.
- Further violations will begin to increase the severity of the penalties received, whether the new violations are similar to previous ones or completely different. This is because all of our policies are readily available on our website and should be reviewed and understood before playing World of Warcraft.
- Even very minor infractions can result in account closure if the user of the account exhibits a blatant disregard for adhering to the rules, via multiple or serious offenses.
- Final Warnings are often thought of as being preceded by other warnings. However, this is not always the case; some violations of the Terms of Use and/or policies are considered so serious that a repeated offense is not tolerated under any circumstances!
-
The registered account user is responsible for all infractions that take place on the account, even if the violations are carried out by someone else.
Prohibited Software (Botting, Speed/Teleport Hacks, Data Mining, Software Hacking)
World of Warcraft is a persistent online role-playing world where the actions of each player can have a far-reaching effect on numerous other players, whether directly or indirectly. The game is designed to be run by itself, with no supporting software. Any effort to alter or "hack" World of Warcraft will not be tolerated. Any software which allows a player to circumvent the intended use of the game is not permitted. CONSEQUENCES: Any evidence uncovered by Support investigations that the account has been involved in the exploitation of World of Warcraft by
running software at the same time as World of Warcraft that enables any of the following behavior may result in immediate account closure, whether or not any of the software's features are actually used on, with, or against the World of Warcraft software:
-
Botting (automated gameplay, whether or not a human is present at the computer).
-
Speed/teleport hacking (character movement speeds greater than those achievable through normal in-game means, including teleportation that is not the direct and unmodified result of an in-game spell, ability or effect).
-
Data mining (gathering of information that is not normally available through the in-game user and/or scripting interfaces).
-
Software hacking (manipulating the World of Warcraft client and/or server software or the communication between them in any way).
PROTECT YOURSELF:
Blizzard recommends that you completely uninstall any such software from your computer. However, if you must have such software installed for use with programs OTHER than World of Warcraft, be sure to quit/disable every portion of the software so that it is no longer in the system memory (RAM) BEFORE running World of Warcraft (WoW.exe and/or Launcher.exe). Unfortunately, Blizzard is unable to assist in the removal of such software or offer any guarantee that simply turning it off will prevent us from determining that the software may have been used in an unauthorized manner in conjunction with the World of Warcraft software.
