Blizzard Launcher - FAQ

This document describes the functionality and purpose of the Blizzard Launcher™.

Q: What is the Blizzard Launcher?
The Blizzard Launcher is a start area for the game World of Warcraft.

Q: What is the purpose of the Blizzard Launcher?
A: The Blizzard Launcher serves many purposes. Some of which are:

- Distribute news to those who may not visit the World of Warcraft website regularly
- Keep the public up to date on issues that may affect their gameplay

Q: How can I bypass the Blizzard Launcher?

A: Because the Blizzard Launcher was designed to provide quick access to World of Warcraft and to important World of Warcraft-related information, as well as to help protect you from harmful programs that might have been installed on your computer without your knowledge (or on the computer on which you're playing World of Warcraft), we strongly recommend that you use the Blizzard Launcher as your starting point for the game. However, if you prefer to bypass the Blizzard Launcher and do without the benefits it provides, you can run World of Warcraft by double-clicking the WoW.exe file located in your World of Warcraft installation folder (generally C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).

Q: When I double click the World of Warcraft icon only the game starts. How can I use the Blizzard Launcher?

A: Follow the instructions below to create a new shortcut that will allow you to use the Blizzard Launcher.

- Double-click on My Computer
- Navigate to your main World of Warcraft directory by double-clicking on the driver letter and then subsequent folder names. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\
- Locate the Launcher.exe file in the main World of Warcraft directory.
- Right-click on the Launcher.exe and choose Send To -> Desktop (Create Shortcut)
- This will place a new file called "Shortcut to Launcher.exe" on your desktop.
- You can rename the shortcut to World of Warcraft, or anything you like.
- Use this new shortcut to launch the game.

Q: What if I deleted my World of Warcraft desktop icon?

A: Please follow the steps above to create a new World of Warcraft icon that will use the Blizzard Launcher.
