Configuring Windows XP Service Pack 2's Internet Connection Firewall
Opening the Internet Connection Firewall:
- Click on the
Start button.
- Click on
Control Panel .
Depending on which Desktop Style you have chosen to use, follow the appropriate directions below:
Windows XP default desktop:
- Click on
Security Center

- Now click on
Windows Firewall.
Windows Classic desktop:
- Click on
Windows Firewall
Please be sure that the radio button is set to
On (recommended) and that there is no check in the box that says
Don't allow exceptions before continuing.
Adding a port:
- Click the
Exceptions Tab.
By default only the Remote Assistance Service is enabled. Adjust according to your needs. Again, consult your documentation for explanations on each if needed.
- Click on the
Add Port... button. Please enter the information below if you own:
StarCraft
-
Name: Type 'StarCraft Battle.net TCP'

Port: Enter the number '6112' and check 'TCP'
Create a second entry with the below settings:

Name: Type 'StarCraft Battle.net UDP'
-
Port: Enter the number '6112' and check 'UDP'
Diablo
-
Name: Type 'Diablo Battle.net'
-
Port: Enter the number '6112' and check 'TCP'
Diablo II & Diablo II: Lord of Destruction

Name: Type 'Diablo II Open Battle.net'
-
Port: Enter the number '4000' and check 'TCP'
WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos & WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne

Name: Type 'WarCraft III Battle.net'

Port: Enter your Game Port number*, and check 'TCP'
* How to obtain your Game Port number:
- First, open Warcraft III.
- Click on the
Options button.
- Click on the
Gameplay button, and note the number shown in the
Game Port box.

After entering the options for your game, please be sure that there is a check next to the box on the
Exceptions tab.
