Configuring Sygate Personal Firewall Pro to allow access to Battle.net

The intent of this page is to provide the settings needed to allow Blizzard's games to operate properly on Battle.net or any TCP/IP connection such as a LAN.

1. Main Console Window
The first step (after installing the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro) is to bring up the main console window. This can be accomplished by:

- Left-click on the Start button
- Left-click on Programs
- Left-click on Sygate Personal Firewall
- Left-click on Sygate Personal Firewall Pro

2. Advanced rules

At the top of the console

- Left-click on Tools
- Left-click on Advanced Rules

- Put a checkmark in the Remember my answer, and do not show this message again
- Left-click on the OK button

3. Advanced Rules Second Part
The Advanced Rules window should now be visible.

- Left-click on the Add button

4. Allow Traffic
Under Description, enter Blizzard Entertainment #1.

- Left-click on the Allow this traffic button
- Left-click on the Ports and Protocols buttom at the top of the window

5. Protocols
Now in the protocols menu:

- Under Protocol, select TCP

- In the remove and local fields, type 4000, 6111-6119
- For Traffic Direction, select Both

- Left-click on the OK button

6. Repeat Steps 3-5
Repeat steps 3-5 but name the rule Blizzard Entertainment #2

and select UDP for the Protocol

choice this time.

7. Back To The Console
You should now have two advanced rules defined. Click the OK button and you will now have just the console screen.

8. Connect to Battle.net
Start a Blizzard game and attempt to connect to Battle.net

- You will need to ALT-TAB to the Windows desktop now
- There will (or should) be a confirmation window from Sygate
- In this window, click the box Remember my answer, and do not ask me again for this application
- Click the Yes box
- Now press ALT-TAB and go back to the game in progress.

There may be a connection error message at this point. If there is, select OK and connect to Battle.net again. It will be successful this time.

9. Repeat For Each Game
Repeat step 8 for each Blizzard game you wish to play on-line over a TCP/IP connection.
