Step 1: Installation  
-   1A: Clean Install  
-   1B: Copy game files to Hard disk

Step 1A:
Clean install: Backup single-player character files: Your single-player character files are stored in the Diablo II save folder (the default location is: C:\Program Files\Diablo II\save) on your hard drive.  The character files have the same name as the character.  If you want to backup the files or move the character to a different computer, save those files and then copy them into the new Diablo II save folder.

Uninstall: Steps on how to Uninstall. Delete the Diablo II installation folder:
Delete the folder where you installed Diablo II at (the default location is: C:\Program Files\Diablo II)
Delete the registry entries
- Click on Start, then Run (For Vista Users, press the Windows Key  (the key with the Windows logo on your keyboard) + R (at the same time)
- Type regedit and click Ok.
- Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Current_User branch.
- Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
- Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
- Click on the + icon beside the Blizzard Entertainment branch.
- Select the Diablo II branch and press the delete key.
- Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Local_Machine branch.
- Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
- Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
- Click on the + icon beside the Blizzard Entertainment branch.
- Select the Diablo II branch and press the delete key.
- If some or all of the folders are not there, it's ok. Close regedit when finished.  

Reinstall Steps on how to Install. Install the latest patch: Download and install the current patch for your game from our website at: http://www.blizzard.com/patches/.

Step 1B:
Copy game files to Hard disk (For Diablo 2 Classic Only) Copy the files D2Char.MPQ and D2Music.MPQ from the Diablo II play disk to the Diablo II folder on your hard drive by dragging and dropping the files from the CD.
