Have you lost an item or items from your character?
We are very sorry to hear that you are missing or have lost your items. Unfortunately, we cannot restore any items, no matter the cause. We are sorry for any inconveniences that this has caused you, however finding or trading for new items is the only way to replace them.
I lost items when I died:
The corpse system on Battle.net has been updated to prioritize which of a player's multiple corpses will be saved, in case a player exits the game. While characters will still be allowed to have up to 16 corpses in any given game, the corpse with the most valuable equipment* will be the one that is saved when a user chooses to "Save & Exit" the game. Items on any other corpses will be lost.
* The equipment's value is determined by the total "sell value" of the items equipped on the corpse; this does not count the amount of blue that the player was carrying at the time of death.
Items left on the ground
Don't leave items or blue lying on the ground any longer than necessary. If at any time you get disconnected from Battle.net while items are still on the ground, there is no guarantee the items will remain when you rejoin the game. In most cases a disconnection will result in the loss of any items left on the ground. Whenever possible, use the trade window to transfer or trade items between characters.
Information on third party programs:
If you have ever downloaded a third party program, such as a trainer, cheat, or hack, please be aware that most of these programs install a type of back door or Trojan virus into your system. This allows others to get your password and other important information for your system.
More information on the dangers of Third party programs can be found
here.
Information on Virus Detection and Firewall Software can be found
here.
Duplicate items:
The Realm scans for duplicated items and may delete any duplicates that it finds. You might have traded for a duplicated item and it may have been deleted by our servers. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if an item is duplicated.
Account password information:
If someone is able to guess your password, that person can log on with your account, use the characters on it and take those characters' items. This is why we strongly urge players to choose account passwords that are difficult to guess. More information on Battle.net Account Password Security can be found
here.
Although unexplained lost items can often be attributed to the reasons above, we do look into reports of players losing items mysteriously. Although we cannot restore lost items, if you do not feel that your loss of items was due to the reasons above then please
select the navigation option to contact a representative for additional assistance. Please fill in the account and character information on the email form. In the details box explain what you lost, what happened leading up to the time that you found the items gone, and approximately what time and date the items disappeared.
