Account Registration Information

Why should I register an email address with my account?
To begin with, you will need a registered email address to use the automated account recovery system; if you don't have a registered email address, you will be unable to recover your account should you forget or otherwise lose your account password. There are other features that are available if you have a registered email address; for example, friends can whisper a message to you even if you are offline, as long as you have registered an email address and enabled emails from friends. For additional information check the Battle.net Mail Features.

Why do I only have one chance to register an email address with my account?
This is for security concerns. For example, if you don't register an email address at this time and someone else gets your password, they can register their email address in your account, at which point your account becomes unrecoverable.

Why do I need to register an active email address?
Once you register your email address, any use of a feature involving a registered email address will result in an email being sent to that address. If the email address you have registered does not accept emails, then you will be unable to change that email address, since changing your registered email address involves getting an email at the currently registered email address.

Is Blizzard going to sell my email address?
No, the email address is only registered for password recovery and the Battle.net Mail Features. Blizzard does not provide your email address to outside callers, firms, or other users.
