Information on virus detection and cleaning
What can a virus do?
It would be a smaller list to name the things viruses cannot do. However, we would like to list a few of the ways they can affect Blizzard games.
A virus can:
- Slow down and even stop your Internet connection.
- Stop programs from running.
- Cause programs to crash.
- Get your account name and password.
- Get your CD-Key.
- Cause the error: Unable to properly identify your application version. ***possible update if error isn't relevant***
- Cause the error: Checksum not matching when applying an update patch. ***possible update if error isn't relevant***
How can I detect and remove a virus?
You can check your computer for viruses using an anti-virus program. These programs can also remove viruses. However, new viruses are appearing all the time, so make sure you get the latest updates from your anti-virus manufacturer.
