THE BATTLECRY MOSAIC CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES

  • Overview:

    Welcome to the "Battle Cry," World of Warcraft® 5th Anniversary Mosaic Event, where Blizzard will create a mosaic image by combining photographs of you and/or your friends using a Horde or Alliance image that can be printable online. Each time that Blizzard receives 5% of the total number of photographs needed to complete the mosaic, the website will unlock concept art for the World of Warcraft community. When the mosaic is complete, it will unlock a final epic piece of art that will be representative of the phenomenon that is World of Warcraft.

  • Timeline:

    This event will begin on November 23rd, 2009 and will continue until the earlier of the date that Blizzard receives 20 000 player entries, or June 30, 2010 (the “Deadline”).

    How to Participate in the Event:

    To participate, submit a photo of you and/or your friends using a Horde or Alliance image on a sign, a t-shirt, a banner, or whatever you would like to photograph, by completing the entry form located at www.blizzard.com prior to the Deadline. Note that the photograph that you submit should have a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. In the event that you cannot enter the Contest electronically, send an envelope containing (i) a postcard with your name, age and city of residence; and (ii) a CD-ROM disk containing the photograph that meets the criteria above to the following address:

  • Legal:
    Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., a Delaware corporation (referred to herein as "Blizzard"), is the sponsor of the "Battle Cry," World of Warcraft® 5th Anniversary Mosaic Event (the "Event"). In order to participate in this Event, you must be an adult in your country of residence, and you must be legally able to agree to these rules for participating in the Event. This is not a contest, or a sweepstakes promotion. There is no cost associated with your participation in the Event. Your participation in the Event is void where prohibited.

    Participation in the Event is limited to the first twenty thousand (20,000) submissions received by Blizzard in accordance with the guidelines provided below and prior to the Deadline. For the purposes of this Event, and in consideration of your agreement to abide by the terms and conditions contained herein, Blizzard hereby grants you a limited, non-exclusive, world-wide, royalty free, perpetual license to use the titles, themes, objects, characters, character names, stories, dialog, catch phrases, locations, concepts, and artwork associated with Blizzard’s "World of Warcraft," interactive products, including World of Warcraft, World of Warcaft: The Burning Crusade®, and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King™ (the "Blizzard Property") to create photographs to be submitted for this Event, as well as your name, country of residence, and World of Warcraft Server and Character name (the "Event Materials").

    In consideration of Blizzard providing you the opportunity to participate in the Event, you hereby grant Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide license and right to utilize the Event Materials that you submit to Blizzard in connection with the Event. The Event Materials will not be returned to any participant. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you acknowledge that Blizzard shall have the right to use, modify, reproduce, publish, perform, display, distribute, make derivative works of and otherwise commercially and noncommercially exploit the Event Materials in perpetuity and throughout the universe, in any manner or medium now existing or hereafter developed, without separate compensation to you or any other person or entity. You agree to take, at Blizzard's expense, any further action (including, without limitation, execution of affidavits and other documents) reasonably requested by Blizzard to effect, perfect or confirm Blizzard's rights as set forth above in this agreement.

    With respect to the Event Materials, you hereby represent and warrant that: (a) You are of the age of majority in your country of residence; (b) you have the right to provide Blizzard the foregoing license to utilize the Event Materials without liability or compensation to others; and (c) the use, reproduction, distribution, or transmission of the Event Materials by Blizzard will not violate any foreign or domestic, federal, state or local law or regulation, or any rights of any third party, including, but not limited to, any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary, property, or contractual right, or constitute false advertising, unfair competition, defamation, invasion of privacy or rights to celebrity, or any other right of any person or entity.

    In consideration of your being given the opportunity to participate in the Event, you release Blizzard, and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agencies (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Event (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory.

    This agreement will be governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of the United States. Blizzard reserves the right to, in its sole discretion, suspend or cancel the Event or any individual’s participation in the Event should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Blizzard's control affect the administration of the Event, or Blizzard otherwise becomes (as determined in its sole discretion) incapable of running the Event as planned. Blizzard reserves the right to reject Event Materials submitted by participants who violate the terms of this agreement, tamper with the operation of the Event, or engage in any conduct that is detrimental or unfair to Blizzard, the Event or any other participant (in each case as determined in Blizzard's sole discretion).
