FAQ

What is BlizzCon?

BlizzCon is a celebration of the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises and the communities that surround them. This two-day event will contain Q&A panels featuring Blizzard Entertainment developers, social events for players and developers to meet one another, hands-on gameplay featuring your favorite Blizzard Entertainment games, casual and competitive tournaments, and more.

When and where is BlizzCon 2009?

The event will take place on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Anaheim Convention Center, located at 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802. The hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific Time on both days (Friday and Saturday).

How much does a BlizzCon ticket cost?

Each BlizzCon ticket costs $125. Tickets are non-transferable, non-refundable, and Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to deny admission to anyone who violates this policy.

Where and when can I buy BlizzCon 2009 tickets?

To attend BlizzCon, you must purchase tickets in advance through the Blizzard Store. Tickets to BlizzCon 2009 will be sold in two separate batches on two different dates. The first batch goes on sale on May 16. The second batch goes on sale on May 30. Tickets from each batch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until they are sold out, though Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to sell additional tickets in the future. There will be a five-ticket limit per household. Please visit the Blizzard Store on either of the days above to make your purchase.

How will ticket sales operate this year?

When you proceed to checkout at the Blizzard Store, if there are other people purchasing tickets ahead of you and tickets are still available, you will enter into a wait list before you can check out and complete your purchase. While in the queue, you will receive regular updates of your estimated wait time and information about the remaining ticket availability. Once you’ve reached checkout, you will have 15 minutes to purchase tickets before they are released for another customer to purchase, at which point you will need to return to the BlizzCon Store home and begin the process again. Please note that having a position in the wait list does not guarantee you tickets. For more details on the new system, visit the BlizzCon 2009 ticket queue info page.

Can I order BlizzCon tickets over the phone?

BlizzCon ticket orders can only be placed online through the Blizzard Store. We will not be accepting BlizzCon ticket orders over the phone.

What can I do ahead of time?

Purchasing tickets requires a Battle.net account. If you do not have a Battle.net account and wish to create one in advance of ticket sales, click here to get started. Please note that if you previously created a Blizzard Account to purchase tickets for last year's BlizzCon, all Blizzard Accounts have been automatically converted to Battle.net accounts. Prior to ticket sales beginning, you may wish to visit Battle.net Account Management to ensure your contact and stored credit-card information are up-to-date, and to verify your e-mail address.

If I was in the queue on the first ticket-sales date but wasn’t able to buy tickets because they sold out, will I be placed on a waiting list for the second batch on the second ticket-sales date?

No. Each batch of tickets is being sold independently, and each batch is being sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Once they’re sold out, we will not be accepting additional ticket requests. However, Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to sell additional tickets in the future.

Can I change the credit card I wish to use after I have already ordered tickets?

No. Once the order is placed, we are unable to change the card that is going to be billed. Additional tickets can be purchased using a different credit card provided there are still tickets available. Ordering additional tickets will not negate any prior orders.

Whom should I speak with if I have further questions about BlizzCon 2009 ticket purchases?

To contact our sales team, please send an email to blizzconsupport@blizzard.com or contact us via phone with your questions. Be sure to include specific details if you're encountering any difficulties ordering tickets.

Will I be able to edit any ticket details such as attendee names or character names after I’ve placed an order?

Once you have placed an order, you can change the names of the attendees and associated realm and character information by logging in to Battle.net Account Management and clicking Order History. An option to edit attendee names for each ticket you purchased will be available for a limited time after purchase.

If I wish to purchase more than five tickets can I place another order?

You may place multiple orders as long as the total number of tickets ordered does not exceed five per household. Additional orders will need to be placed by another household.

When will my credit card be charged?

Once the order request is submitted, we begin the process of billing your credit card. Please be aware that once you submit your order we are unable to cancel the request and provide a refund.

Will there be a waiting list if the tickets sell out on both days?

No. Ticket sales are on a first-come, first-served basis, and once they’re sold out we will not be accepting additional ticket requests. If we decide to release additional tickets for sale in the future, we will make a separate announcement with details.

I placed an order but did not receive confirmation. Can I check on the status?

You can check your order status through the online Blizzard Store. Simply log in with the Battle.net account you used to make your purchase and click My Orders from the Blizzard Store. You can also click Order History in Battle.net Account Management. If you have further questions, please email blizzconsupport@blizzard.com to verify whether your order was placed successfully.

What do I get for the cost of a ticket?

Each BlizzCon ticket includes a BlizzCon badge that grants access to BlizzCon. Attendees will also get a BlizzCon goody bag containing exclusive swag. More details on the contents of the goody bag will be revealed in the weeks ahead. Please be aware that transportation and hotel accommodations are not included with the cost of any BlizzCon ticket.

After I purchase my BlizzCon ticket(s), how will I receive them?

Attendee badges will be distributed on site at the Anaheim Convention Center during BlizzCon. Approximately one month before the show, the ticket purchaser will receive up to five separate e-mails (one for each ticket purchased) each containing a unique attendee barcode that will be required to gain entry to the show. You will also be able to access these bar-code emails through your Battle.net account.

Before arriving at the show, each attendee must print the e-mail containing his or her barcode and bring it to BlizzCon, along with valid photo ID. In order to receive a badge, the name on the bar-code e-mail *must* match the name on your photo ID. You can edit attendee names for all of the tickets you purchased until 5 p.m. Pacific Time on June 13 by logging in to
Battle.net Account Management and going to Order History.

What if I need to change the name of one of the guests I am bringing with me?

You will have up until Saturday, June 13 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time to make any changes to attendee badge information in Battle.net Account Management. After this point, no further changes can be made. If you have not entered any information by this time, all attendee names will default to the full name of the Battle.net account holder.

What if I don't know the names of the guests I am bringing to BlizzCon?

If you do not know the names of the guests you are bringing to BlizzCon and will not know by June 13, put all of the badges under your own name. Bring *all* of the printed bar-code emails, along with your photo ID, to BlizzCon, and you will be able to pick those up all of the badges yourself and distribute them to your guests. Photo ID will only be checked at the time of badge pick-up.

What if I am a minor and do not have photo ID to match my bar-code e-mail?

If you are a minor and do not have photo ID, please bring your bar-code email directly to the Solutions Desk at BlizzCon, along with the credit card (or a copy of the credit card) used to purchase the ticket. You will be required to answer a series of security questions, and may be required to call the ticket purchaser if he or she is not already on site with you.

If you are an adult attending BlizzCon with a minor, as an alternative, you can enter your own name in place of the minor’s attendee information (to edit attendee info, visit Battle.net Account Management Order History). This will allow you to pick up the badge with your own photo ID, after which point you can give the badge to the minor accompanying you.

What if I enter a friend’s name as one of my attendees and he or she has to cancel after June 13? Will I be able to make name changes on site?

We highly recommend that you try to be as accurate as possible with the names you submit for your guest badges – if there is any uncertainty about an attendee, we recommend using your own name instead of the uncertain attendee. However, if an emergency occurs and a guest is no longer able to attend the show, you and/or the replacement guest will need to bring the original attendee’s bar-code email, valid photo ID, and the credit card (or copy of the credit card) used to make the purchase to the Solutions Desk for assistance.

What happens once my barcode for my badge is scanned? Will I be able to replace a lost badge?

Once a barcode is scanned and the badge associated with the barcode is printed, the barcode becomes invalid and cannot be used again. We will *not* be able to reprint lost badges. In order to protect yourself, do *not* purchase tickets from third parties.

What happens if I delete my confirmation E-mail or print out my barcode and lose it while traveling to the show?

If you accidentally delete the bar-code e-mail or lose your printout, you will be able to retrieve the bar-code email by logging in to Battle.net Account Management and clicking Order History. If you don’t have access to a computer or printer at the show, visit the Solutions Desk at BlizzCon for assistance. You will need to present valid photo ID.

Is BlizzCon open to attendees outside the United States and Canada?

Yes. International attendees will be able to purchase tickets at the same time as domestic attendees. Tickets will go on sale May 16 and May 30.

What should I do about hotel accommodations and transportation?

Several hotels within walking distance of the Anaheim Convention Center have agreed to provide guest rooms at a special BlizzCon group rate. Transportation to the event will be up to you. Please check the Travel Info page in the coming weeks for further information on nearby hotels and how to take advantage of the special group rate, as well as information about car rentals and shuttle buses from nearby airports. If you plan to drive or carpool to the Convention Center for the event, please visit our parking page more information.

Is there an age restriction for attendees?

Some content at BlizzCon may not be suitable for children. Anyone under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Absolutely no children 5 years of age or under will be permitted to enter. Tickets are required for all attendees, and the child ticket price is the same as the adult ticket price. Please note that no strollers will be allowed in the Anaheim Convention Center.

Whom should I contact if I have a question about accommodations for people with special needs at BlizzCon?

For information on accommodations for people with special needs at the event, email blizzconsupport@blizzard.com. Please include your question and contact information in your email.

I am planning on carrying my costume and some water in a backpack to BlizzCon. Is this OK?

Any bags being brought into BlizzCon should be smaller than 20 inches x 10 inches (roughly the size of two sheets of paper side by side). Anyone with a bag larger than this may be refused entry. If you are taking part in the costume competition and require a larger bag to store your costume, please check either information kiosk on your arrival. Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to search any bags being brought into BlizzCon and to refuse entry if they are found to contain prohibited items (see below).

Will there be a place to store a costume and/or bag at any time during the event?

There will be no general storage space available to show attendees. Please leave anything you don’t wish to carry in your car, at home, or at your hotel. If you are taking part in the costume competition, please check either information kiosk on your arrival.

Can I bring my video camera/camcorder into BlizzCon?

Video cameras are permitted for use in the BlizzCon exhibit halls. However, you may not record gameplay from any of the screens (with the exception of tournament gameplay), and recording the BlizzCon closing concert on Saturday evening is strictly prohibited .

Can I bring my iPod?

MP3 players are permitted in the BlizzCon exhibit halls. However, personal equipment may not be connected to any computer for any reason at any time.

Can I bring my computer/laptop to BlizzCon?

Desktop computers, laptops, and electronic storage devices are not allowed in the BlizzCon exhibit halls. Please leave these devices in your car, at home, or at your hotel.

I'm planning on wearing a costume to BlizzCon. Are there any items I cannot bring into the event?

Costumes may not include or otherwise utilize any edged weapons (such as knives, daggers, and swords); actual clubs, maces, or other crushing weapons; or projectile weapons of any kind, even if unloaded or nonfunctional (this includes firearms of any kind including air guns, longbows, crossbows, etc.). Acceptable costume weapon props are limited to air-filled or soft plastic melee weapons (swords, daggers, maces, clubs, etc.) and wooden staves that are not shod with metal.

Is there anything else that I can't bring?

Attendees will not be allowed to bring weapons, alcohol, fireworks, glass bottles, cans, or large containers into BlizzCon. **Any attendee found to have violated the prohibited items list may be removed from BlizzCon.**
